Re: Always Believe - Music Review
Liked the reviews on the weblink. Thanks, Suzan. Wanted to put my "two cents" in.
Collide - There is a mysterious opener to this song that draws you in. After a tiring day at work, when it seems no one around really knows, cares to know, or love the God you keep gently telling them about - This song reminds the listener that other Christians (real God followers) are out there. Like in the Bible when the prophet Elijah ran for his life from Jezebel who threatened to kill him. (I Kings 19:1-21) Here's an excerpted passage: (I Kings 19:9-..) "And he [Elijah] came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the Lord came unto him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah? 10. And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life to take it away. 11. And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake: 12. And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. 13. And it was so, when Elijah heard it that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah? 14. And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away. 15. And the LORD said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, anoint Hazael to be king over Syria: 16. And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abelmeholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room. 17. And it shall come to pass, that he that escapeth the sword of Hazael shalt Jehu slay: and him that escapeth from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay. 18. Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal and every mouth which hath not kissed him."
And the chapter ends with Elijah following God's command. It seems this same message of "Always Believe" comes through for the real Christians who are trying to serve God in the midst of this "plastic horses" world, as Mitch puts it in his sond on the same album with that title...that this world will keep spinning around. People will keep doing what makes them happy, and gets them nowhere. They will slay God's people (with word, deed, politics and media), but the true believers just need to hold tight on to God's hand and "Always believe in the love we have felt" from the LORD who promised us a redeemer through His Son, Forgiveness, Healing, Mercy, Wisdom and the eyes to see the Truth of God, even when the "stars collide" all around us. The true "hope" that this world seems to think can be found from the President, or the government - can only be found by accepting Christ as one's LORD and Savior, believing that He died, was buried and rose from the dead, and really persuing that personal, daily commitment and relationship with Christ. And it seems like the only place you will really find the true believers is out in their own walks of life serving Christ where they are and not bowing to the current "Baal." But we are still out here. And numbers don't really matter to God. God can save and heal a nation by few, or he can save by many, we just need to "Always Beleive."
